Timothy A Barstow, 74, of Hadley, MA, passed away on February 3rd, 2023, surrounded by loved ones following a brief illness. Or as Tim would have put it, he is now on Eternal Patrol.
Tim was born on April 9, 1948, to John and Esther Barstow. After graduating from Hopkins Academy, he attended Webster Academy. He then enrolled in the Navy where he served for 4 years as Machinist Mate during the Vietnam Era on the nuclear fast attack submarine, the U.S.S. Scamp. There he formed many lifelong bonds.
Tim built and started Cedar Reach Horse Farm in 1979 where he spent many decades teaching both children and adults of all ages to ride horses. He offered horse boarding, riding lessons and a summer day camp that hosted over 200 children per year over the course of many summers. So many have fond memories of camp that included a camp sleepover with bonfires, hayrides, trips to the river, all while also learning good horsemanship.
During his retired years, Tim spent his remaining time with the love of his life, Karen Regish. They both enjoyed many fun filled years of motorcycling, snowmobiling, ATVing, jetskiing, kayaking, skiing, and traveling as some of his most enjoyed activities. Most of all, Tim enjoyed his time with Karen at their log cabin in New Hampshire where they have many new and everlasting friends. When they were home, he relaxed at his horse farm with daily visits from his grandchildren with whom he loved to play and rough house with.
Tim was predeceased by his loving parents, John and Esther Barstow of Hadley MA. He leaves behind his eternal love of 32 years, Karen Regish of Hadley, MA. He also leaves behind stepdaughter Tara Brugger along with her husband Jonah Brugger and two beautiful grandchildren Benjamin and Nora of Hadley, MA, as well as stepson, Gregory Tudryn of San Diego, CA. Tim also leaves many cousins and their children from both the Barstow and Searle families.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute or the American Cancer Society in Tim’s memory.
Services will be held on February 18, 2023 from 10am-1pm at the Ahearn Funeral Home at 783 Bridge Rd in Northampton, MA.
