Thomas F Ryan

Thomas Francis Ryan, 84, passed away peacefully at Holyoke Medical Center during the afternoon on January 4th, 2023. Thomas was born on July 4th, 1938, in Northampton, MA and is the son of Edward and Mildred Ryan.
Thomas was a proud Air Force veteran, serving in Korea between 1958-1966. He took his service incredibly seriously and did all that he could to support his fellow veterans and active servicemen.
After the Air Force, Thomas was employed by the City of Northampton with responsibility of maintaining all the city’s traffic lights and fire alarm boxes. When he officially retired, he worked part time at the local recycling centers to keep busy and tabs on all the goings on in the town.
Thomas’ (or “T” as he is better known by his close friends) true passion was the outdoors. He spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and beagling. As he got older, he preferred to spend time indoors with his friends, most notably at the American Legion. He loved to drive down daily to the Legion to roll his dice, order a coke and watch a game. His bright personality and ability to immediately connect with people warmed the room wherever he went.
Thomas is survived by his son Keith, brothers Ted and Bobby, and 3 granddaughters Lily, Sydney, and Harper.
A private ceremony will be taking place in the near future for close friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Holyoke Soldiers Home at 110 Cherry Street Holyoke, MA 01040.
