Obituary

NORTHAMPTON-Thomas A. McCaulley, 84, of North Elm Street in Northampton passed away at home peacefully and surrounded by family. Tom was born in Northampton, attended local schools and graduated from Easthampton High School. He served in the National Guard before returning home to begin his professional career. Tom began his career as a plumber for W.H. Patterson Inc, working throughout the valley for many years. He then worked as a Salesman for Mark’s Motors in Northampton before retiring. Never one to sit still, he always had projects and hobbies to keep busy. He enjoyed horse racing, hunting, and staying social through his friends in the car business. He stayed in shape by cutting wood well into his 80’s on his woodlot in Westhampton. Tom loved all aspects of the ‘wooding operation’ but he mostly loved working alongside his wife who he married in 1974, settling in Easthampton to raise their family. He leaves his beloved wife of 53 years, Charleen (Urekew) McCaulley. His sons; Nicholas McCaulley of Salem, MA, Michael McCaulley of Northampton, and a niece Patti Gillette of Southampton. In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by a niece Mikki Cartledge. Tom will be remembered for his loving devotion to his family and friends. Tom was an amazing judge of character and provided a simple, logical, and common-sense approach to all aspects of life. Tom loved to spend summers with family and friends at Saratoga Racetrack and vacationing in the mountains of Vermont where he owned a camp for many years. The McCaulley family would like to thank the hospice team at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and Laureen Urekew for the tremendous care and support they provided. Services for Tom will be Friday morning at AHEARN FUNERAL HOME OF NORTHAMPTON with calling hours from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. A Religious service will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. with Fr.
