WILLIAMSBURG-Ruth A. (Anderson) Fountain, 89, of East Main Street passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon in Amherst. Ruth was born in Holyoke, a daughter of Eugene and Alice (Picard) Anderson. She was educated in Springfield, furthering her education she attended business school receiving her degree.
Ruth worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Freemen in Florence and later for Dr’s. Vasedi and Hemminger at the Urology Group in Northampton. She was married to Ronald L. Fountain, and they enjoyed many years of happy memories, love and family until his passing in 2013. Ruth lived in Ft. Pierce for many years until returning to the area in 2024. She was a member of the Williamsburg Congregational Church. Ruth loved bingo and shopping. She especially loved living in Florida, visiting the beach and spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents Eugene and Alice Anderson, her husband Ronald and her brother Eugene Anderson. She leaves her children; Nancy Symanski of Greenfield and William Harlow Jr. of Whately. Her grandchildren; Alyshia Symanski-Camp, (her caregiver) and her husband Jesse of Williamsburg, Heather Symanski of Greenfield, and Tara Nunez and her husband Ricky of Williamsburg. Her cherished great grandchildren; Annabella Camp, Bryelle Camp, Gianah Gale, Lorenzo and Adrina Nunez. She also leaves two sisters; Janet Blais and Leona Anderson of Florida, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and the extended members of the Fountain family. The family would like to thank the staff for the comfort, care and dignity they showed Ruth during her time with them, Angels one and all.
The family will receive friends for visitation at AHEARN FUNERAL HOME, 783 Bridge Rd., Northampton on Saturday May 23, 2026 from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. followed by a Religious service for Ruth at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Jack Cooper, officiant.
