Robert “Bob” A. Bourdon passed away on January 19, 2025, after a brief illness. Bob was born on August 10, 1936 to the late Albert and Rose (Bisonnette) Bourdon.
Bob attended Northampton schools, graduating from Smith Vocational High School. In 1957 he was drafted into the United States Army. After being honorably discharged from the army, Bob held many jobs, but was most proud of the wood working he did out of the shop he created in his Worthington home during his retirement years.
Some of Bob’s most treasured days were those spent hanging out in his garage workshop with his beloved wife Millie, friends and family; and in later years, days rocking in his chair on the porch with the family dogs.
Bob was predeceased by his wife, Millicent (Wilner) Bourdon; infant daughter Marie Christine Bourdon, as well as sons Daniel and Paul Herfurth; and his nine siblings Mary Ahearn, Ursula Guerrin, Rose Griffin, Louise Costello, Lillian O’Donnell, Albert Bourdon, Arthur Bourdon, Roy Bourdon, and Ray Bourdon.
Bob is survived by his daughters Ellen Himmelman of Southampton, with whom he lived in his later years, and Judith (David) Drobner of Blowing Rock, N.C., as well as son Robert Herfurth of Southampton; grandchildren Katherine Himmelman, Julia Himmelman, Alexandra Drobner, Nicole Drobner, Erica Drobner, Douglas Herfurth, and Darren Herfurth; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at AHEARN FUNERAL HOME, 783 Bridge Rd., Northampton on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Wednesday, Jan. 29 2025 at 11:00 A.M. directly at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Northampton (Morningstar Section) where the Catholic Rites of Committal and Military honors will be rendered.
Donations in his memory can be made to American Legion Post 236, 5 Bridge Street, Haydenville, MA 01039
