NORTHAMPTON

NORTHAMPTON-Richard V. West Sr. 81, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, after a brief illness. Richard was born in Fall River, a son of the late Vernon P. and Constance L. (Ide) West. The family moved to Williamsburg where Richard grew up. He attended Williamsburg schools and immediately joined the USAF following graduation. He proudly served with the 4th Mobile Communications Group as a Radio Operator. His foreign service time included assignment in Turkey and Caribbean stations. He was honorably discharged, returning home in 1966. He married Lucy Anne Clark on February 2, 1966, and they shared 60 years of memories, love, and family together as their family grew. Dick worked as a supervisor for many years with Strathmore Paper in Westfield, National Felt in Easthampton, and National Textile in Holyoke. Never one to sit still he drove a van for disabled and elderly for several years in his retirement. When Dick was younger, he was an avid golfer and past member of Thomas Memorial Golf Course in Turners Falls. He and Lucy were longtime members of the Williamsburg Congregational Church. Dick was a member of the Williamsburg Lions and the Williamsburg Grange for many years. He enjoyed doing crosswords, sudoku and playing scrabble against any who dared to challenge him. Dick, at the end of the day, just loved relaxing and enjoying the simple things in life. He leaves his beloved wife of 60 years, Lucy Anne (Clark) West. His sons; Richard V. West and his partner Christina Plasse of Deerfield and David A. West and his wife Chantal of Goshen. His five grandchildren; Jillian, Nicole and Lucianne West, Jacob West and his wife Rylee and Lilly Hale-West and her wife Gretchen. His siblings; Lawrence E. West and his wife Linda of Williamsburg and Linda Banks of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews. 

             The family will receive friends for calling hours on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Rd., Northampton from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M

               Burial in Corbin Cemetery, Dudley, MA. will be private. Donations in Dick’s memory may be made to the Williamsburg Grange or the Williamsburg Lions Club.
