Services and burial are pending. The Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, Agawam is closed due to the weather, and the funeral schedule is based upon their availability.

Raymond Goulet, 77, passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on February 19, 2026, at Baystate Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on October 18, 1948, Ray lived a life defined by service, loyalty, and deep devotion to his family and community. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was medically retired after being severely wounded in combat and was awarded two Purple Hearts.

Ray served as a dedicated police officer with the Northampton Police Department for 31 years, from 1975 until his retirement in 2006. In retirement, he remained active in his community, including time serving as a process server in the sheriff’s department.

Ray was known as a man of honor who put family first and believed strongly that family helps family. He treated people with respect regardless of background and was known for his quiet acts of kindness toward both friends and strangers. He will also be remembered for his appreciation for good food.

Ray formed many lasting friendships through his years of service and throughout his life. Among them was his friendship with Rusty Luce, with whom he enjoyed many fishing trips in retirement, including time spent in Key West.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Goulet (Dragon Lady), his children, Don and his wife, Sharon Goulet, Michael and his wife, Alicia Goulet, Daniel Goulet, and Laura Goulet. He was a proud grandfather to Andre and his wife, Laura Valentina Goulet, Josie Goulet, Raymond James Goulet, Lucia Goulet, and Elias Lewis, and cherished great-grandfather to Gabby Goulet. He found great joy in celebrating the lives and milestones of his grandchildren, always taking pride in who they were becoming. He is also survived by his sisters, Ann Marie Carmody and Eileen Scarano Chrystal.

Ray leaves behind a legacy of strength, integrity, and unconditional love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In honor of Ray's love for animals, donations can be made to Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union St, Springfield, MA 01105
