Paula Wentworth

January 19, 2023 — November 2, 2024

Paula Wentworth passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, with her family by her side. Born to Erich and Catherine Sahn, in Leeds, MA, on January 19th, 1923. The second of four sisters, Paula attended local schools and graduated Northampton High School in 1940. Paula met her husband, Robert (Bob) Lyons in the summer of 1937, while swimming at the Leeds reservoir, and they married in 1942. While Bob served as a marine overseas during WWII, Paula kept the home fires burning by working doing housework and at Pro-Brush. She worked, later in life, as an X-ray technologist and medical transcriber, and for a short time doing office work at the YMCA. Paula and Bob had two daughters, Katherine (Kathie) and Maureen (Moe), in 1947 and 1949. They raised them in their home on Landy Ave, in Florence, until they built their home in Williamsburg. Paula and Bob bought land in Goshen in the early 60s and built a summer home that affectionately became known as, “The Camp”, to family and friends. Still in the family today, it is used in the summer by Kathie and her husband Bill, and as the family gathering spot on Christmas Eve. After Bob passed in the early 80s Paula maintained the family home in Burgy. She loved gardening and keeping her lawn well-coiffed. She loved her bird feeders and all the wildlife they attracted. Even the four-legged kind. She preferred keeping her flower gardens to receiving cut flowers, because cut flowers didn’t last. Paula met Halden (Hal) Wentworth at the Williamsburg Senior Center where she taught line dancing, and he was the center director. They married in 1992. Ever independent, Paula insisted on living by herself in the family home after Hal passed right up until the day she passed. Predeceased by husbands, Bob and Hal, sisters, Catherine and Dora, and daughter Maureen, Paula leaves, her sister, Mildred. Daughter, Kathie Bolduc (husband Bill). Grandchildren, Mark LaChance (wife Tammy), John Savage (wife Cathy), and Chelsea Ting (husband Gabe). Great grandchildren, Christopher Amirault (wife Trishna), Nicholas Savage, Zachary LaChance, Abigail Savage, Cameron Ting, and Vincent Ting, and “adopted” great grandson Edward Serafin. She also leaves her former son-in-law, William LaChance (partner Janet Unger), with whom she enjoyed regular Sunday visits. At Paula’s request all services will be private.
