BELCHERTOWN-On February 24, 2025, six days after her 85th birthday, Patricia Ann (DeSantis) Squires passed away at Cooley Dickinson Hospital following a brief illness. Patty was the daughter of Gasper and Mildred (Podbelski) DeSantis. She was born in Ware Center on February 18, 1940, and was a graduate of Ware High School, and Northampton Commercial College. She was a communicant of St. Francis Church and a resident of Belchertown for fifty-eight years. Patty worked for local insurance companies, MacInaney and Davis in Ware, Bell and Hudson in Belchertown, and for her husband’s businesses, H. E. Squires and Son Trucking and School buses.
She leaves her beloved son, David Herbert Squires who was her faithful caregiver. Patty leaves an aunt, Carol DeSantis, sister-in-law Nellie May Rogers, numerous cousins, and nieces and special son Wilhelm “Willie” Brandelius from Sweden, a former exchange student. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Herbert, her parents, her brothers Gasper Jr. and John, and many friends and relatives that she held so dear.
Patty will be remembered for her love and respect for people, her warm, friendly personality, her delicious baking and cooking, and her love of animals, especially Ginger, Autumn, and Molly. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 28, 2025 at St. Francis Church, 24 Jabish St., Belchertown from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. followed by the Liturgy of Christian burial at 11:00 A.M. for Patricia, offered by Fr. David Darcy, Celebrant. Burial will follow in South Cemetery in Belchertown.
