Patricia (Martin) Childs

Patricia Jane (Martin) Childs, 79, of Wilton, Connecticut passed away in hospice care at Norwalk Hospital on May 15, 2023. Patsy was born February 16, 1944, to James D. Martin, Sr., and Marion Morrill.
Patsy remembers growing up in a happy family. She is predeceased by her husband, parents, brothers Timothy and infant, Harold. She is survived by five siblings, James Martin, Jr., Charles Martin (Bonnie), Virginia “Polly” Wells, Larry Martin (Marilou), Richard Martin (Susan), Tim’s widow (Susan). Also, fourteen nieces, nephews, and their families.
Patsy graduated from Wahconah Regional High School in Dalton, Massachusetts in 1962, the first graduating class at the new regional high school. She was a member of the National Honor Society and received the award for all-around commercial business. Patsy was also a student at the Northampton Commercial College where she earned an Associate’s Degree and honed the skills she would later exhibit as a top-notch executive assistant.
After graduation, Patsy worked at Kollmorgen in Northampton, Massachusetts where she met and then married John B. Childs. They were married in 1970 at Zion’s Hill United Methodist Church in Wilton, Connecticut where they lived an exciting life managing several businesses including Capt’n John’s Clambakes.
Patsy was executive assistant to the co-presidents of Glendinning Companies and one of their ventures was beginning the first state lottery in the nation in Connecticut.
In her young adult years, Patsy enjoyed skydiving at the airport in Turners Falls, Massachusetts. She made twelve jumps.
A visitation at the Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Road, Northampton, Massachusetts will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 1-3 p.m
Donations in Patsy’s honor may be directed to the United Ostomy Associations of America.
