Owen J. Richter

Owen J. Richter, 87, of Florence passed away peacefully on Monday July 22, 2024 after a brief illness. Owen was born in Northampton, a son of the late Louis and Margaret (Werzal) Richter. He attended Northampton High School, graduating in 1955. He furthered his education, graduating with his Degree in Pharmacology from the former Hampden School of Pharmacy. Owen began a career as a Pharmacist with Brandle’s Pharmacy and then joined the University of Massachusetts Health Services as Chief Pharmacist. His career spanned over 30 years before he retired. Owen enjoyed gardening and was proud of his large bounty every year. He loved spending time with family especially camping in the great outdoors and was a model train enthusiast. He leaves his beloved wife of 65 years, June C. (Benoit) Richter. His children; Marie T. Chapman of Vernon, CT. and Sheryl A. Champagne of Harrodsburg, Kentucky. His grandchildren; Matthew Chapman, Nicholas Milani and Jennifer Costa and his great grandchildren, Domenic and Jasmine Costa. Owen was predeceased by a daughter, Laraine Milani and his sisters, Irene Nuttleman and Joyce LaFlamme. There are no calling hours. A Memorial service to celebrate Owen’s life will be announced at a future date.
