Naomi Tropp, 79, of Northampton, daughter of the late Emanuel Tropp and Minna (Ente) Tropp, died at Hospice of the Fisher Home on July 20. She leaves her son Noah Gustafson (Jessica Obenschain) and granddaughter Chloe of Kennesaw, GA, her sister Jessie Tropp of Northampton, and nephew Colin Sullivan of Denver, CO. She spent most of her adult life in Indianapolis working in non-profit management, moving to Northampton when she retired to live with her sister. Naomi loved politics, Leonard Cohen songs, audiobooks, and long conversations. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168, whose innovative treatment gave her an unexpected extra 3 years of life.
A Shiva memorial service at 6:30 PM, followed by a short reception will be held Monday July 24 at Beit Ahavah synagogue, 130 Pine St, Florence. Shiva calling hours will be held at Naomi and Jessie’s home on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM.
