Nancy (Otte) Anson

March 22, 1955 — March 24, 2025

NORTHAMPTON- Nancy Otte Anson of Northampton, Massachusetts, left the world on Monday, March 24, 2025. She was born March 22, 1955, in Cherokee, Iowa, to Norita (Sholly) and Evan Otte. Nancy and her sister, Susan, were raised traveling the world as their father was stationed in Japan, Germany and across the United States. Nancy graduated from Armijo High School in Fairfield, California. Nancy was formerly married to Frank Anson; they had three children, Elisa Marie, Tressa Leigh and Zachary Frank. They raised Tressa and Zach in Southampton, Massachusetts, while Nancy worked full time and went to school to further her education. She graduated from UMass Amherst with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing. She worked all over western Massachusetts with Hospice and as a traveling nurse for Hampshire Educational Collaborative, then retired from Hartford Hospital as a Nurse Practitioner.

As a child, her favorite book was The Little Engine that Could, which inspired her independence and motivation to do anything herself - if it had to be done, she was going to do it. She loved her family, especially seeing her 35 first cousins at the annual reunion. Nancy enjoyed gardening, quilting, walking, swimming, volunteering at community gardens and the sunshine. She was a sweet, creative soul and had a lot to give. She donated quilted gifts to premature babies, cancer patients and others in need. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling in Mexico with her best friend and partner Andy Greco.

She leaves a loving family, her mother Norita Reynolds of Northampton, daughter Tressa Anson (Jason) of Plainfield, son Zachary Anson (Liz) of Monson, sister Susan Robbins of Wayland, an Aunt and Uncle in California, many cousins, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter Elisa, her father Evan, her stepfather Ralph Reynolds, and partner Andy.

The family would like to thank everyone for their support. In lieu of flowers, please hug your loved ones, check in on those around you and consider donations in memory of Nancy to National Alliance of Mental Illness or your local Hospice services.
