Michael G. O'Connell

Williamsburg- Michael G. O’Connell, 59, of Williamsburg, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Michael was born in Springfield on October 4, 1965. He was the son of the late James and Kathleen (Wright) O’Connell. Michael was raised in Northampton and attended local schools, graduating from Northampton High School in 1983. He went on to attend the University of California Santa Cruz, where he earned a degree in marine biology. He had a lifelong interest in marine life. Michael was employed as a computer consultant for many years. Most recently, he was an IT specialist at Yankee Candle Company, where he had worked for over fifteen years. Michael was a jack of all trades and enjoyed working on all types of electronics. He also loved motorcycles and enjoyed working on them. He enjoyed cooking for his family. Michael was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his partner Jennifer Burdick of Williamsburg, his son Zachary of Haydenville, his daughter Emily of Williamsburg, his stepson Gregory Poitras of Williamsburg, his sister Mary and her partner Jeff Karl of Williamsburg, and his nephews Kaya and Avery.
