It is with great sadness that I report Maureen Mullaney passed away on September 30th, around midday, losing her battle with cancer at the age of 59. Her parents were John and Therese Mullaney from Western PA.
She is survived by her 2 sisters, Laura Quay and Charlotte Uber. She leaves her children, Aiden Mullaney Barrett and Jera Mullaney Barrett, as her gift to the world. She is also survived by her husband Daniel Barrett.
Maureen was known for her deep love of family, her sense of humor, and her passion for celebrating life. She had many talents including knitting, weaving, sewing, baking, and playing the piano, to name but a few. She was dedicated to her aerobic exercise, walking, running, biking, and cross training. She was a longtime supporter and participant in the annual Hot Chocolate Race, look for her team if you wish help her continue this support.
Maureen worked at the Franklin Regional Council of Governments since 1993 as Transportation Planning and GIS Program Manager. In that leadership role she oversaw all the transportation planning in Franklin County. Maureen would be the first to say all the accomplishments under her tenure were the results of numerous years of many people working together.
Maureen’s wake will be at Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Road, Northampton, on Thursday October 6th, from 4-7PM.
Her Celebration of Life will be Thursday, October 13th, at Union Station, tentatively from 11-3, check with family or close friends for final details.
