Obituary

Molly Riordon, 91, of Franklin, MA formerly of Florence, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, November 2nd, at Medway Country Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehab. Molly was born August 17, 1935, to the late Patrick and Sophie Johnson in Framingham, MA. She had two brothers, Jim and Bob. Molly attended Framingham State College and graduated with a BS in Education. She went on to complete an internship to become a certified dietitian at Yale New Haven Hospital in Stanford, CT. Molly met her husband, John P. Riordon, while they were both serving in the Air Force Biomedical Science Corps. In San Antonio, TX. They were married for 39 years before his death in 2003.

Molly will be most remembered as a mother and homemaker. She worked tirelessly to take care of her husband, John, and five children, John, Kevin, Kathleen, Carol and Mary Ellen. Her passion was planning and preparing meals for her family. They have cherished memories of the many nightly family dinners they shared. She was a talented seamstress; making the girls’ holiday outfits, doll clothes, Halloween costumes, and many quilts. Molly also enjoyed knitting mittens, hats, scarves, sweaters, and prayer shawls.

As much as she loved to cook, she also loved to bake. The entire family enjoyed her brownies, cookies, cakes and pies. She would begin baking a wide variety of Christmas cookies the day after Thanksgiving to give away as gifts to family and friends. Molly was also a Girl Scout leader in Florence for over 25 years.

She will be greatly missed by her children, John Riordon (Judy Riordon), Kevin Riordon (Ellen Riordon), Kathleen Riordon-Kyne (Vincent Kyne), Carol Schroeder-Warren (Brian Warren) and Mary Ellen Aylward (Christopher Aylward) as well as her 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends & family at the Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Road, Northampton, MA on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 8:30 to 10:00 AM followed by a funeral mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 85 Beacon Street, Florence, MA at 10:30 AM with the Liturgy of Christian Burial immediately to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Northampton.
