Marsha Elefterakis, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday morning with her daughters at her side. Marsha was born in Westfield. She was the daughter of Harry J. and Jean (Novak) Saltus. She is predeceased by her sister Patricia Brochu. She grew up in Westfield, attending local schools including St. Mary’s High School and Westfield State College. She moved to Northampton and resided in her home on Columbus Avenue, raising her children and creating many years of happy memories. Marsha worked as a Customer Service representative for Stop & Shop in Northampton for countless years, retiring in 1995.
In Marsha’s earlier years she loved taking trips to the casino and traveling with her friends. She also spent time vacationing at the beach and visiting her grandchildren in NH when they were younger. She enjoyed watching her daughters play sports and loved opening her home to her daughters’ friends. She also enjoyed playing cards, loved Yahtzee, and writing poetry. Lastly Marsha was a dedicated mother who provided a beautiful home with the simple and quiet grace of her generation.
In addition, Marsha is survived by her oldest and dearest friend Peggy Buckley of Latham NY. They met in fourth grade and have been the best of friends since then. Distance did not keep them apart and they talked weekly to solve the Jumbles in the newspaper. When Peggy visited, there was a lot of reminiscing and laughs, along with doing jigsaw puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Marsha leaves her devoted children; Karen Elefterakis and husband John Tesny of West Springfield, Kim Elefterakis of Northampton and Amy Salvucci and husband Craig of Merrimack, NH and two grandchildren; Nicholas and Daniel Salvucci. She also leaves her brother-in-law Armand Brochu of Westfield and two nieces, Michelle Lesieur and Melanie Brochu.
The family will receive friends at AHEARN FUNERAL HOME, 783 Bridge Rd., Northampton on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. with a service at the Funeral home at 11:00 A.M. Marsha will be interred in a private family service at St. Mary’s cemetery, Westfield following the calling hours.
