Obituary

FLORENCE, MA —Louis R. Brazeau, 92, of Hinckley Street passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026. Louis was born in Northampton, a son of the late Louis and Rhea Marie (Bouthillette) Brazeau. He was a lifelong resident of the city, educated in local schools, attending Northampton High School and Smith Vocational School. He enlisted in the US Navy, serving aboard the USS Lake Champlain as a crew chief during the Korean Conflict in the South China Sea. He received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Navy Occupation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He met the love of his life, Jeannine Brazeau, on a blind date set up by friends in 1956 and they wed in 1957. They were blessed with 64 wonderful years together. They lived in Jeannine’s childhood home where they created many wonderful memories, and it was here they raised their children. Louis worked as a Communication technician for AT & T for many years, prior to his retirement. Louis loved working in his garden and on home projects. Weekends would often find he and Jeannine taking long rides in the country together. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jeannine (Menard) Brazeau in 2022. He leaves his children Leo Brazeau (and his wife Laura), Suzette Hoye (and her husband Stephen) five grandchildren; Angelique Britt and her husband Matthew French, Samantha Britt and her partner Hannah, Joseph Brazeau and his wife Krystal, Michael, and Nathan Brazeau and his wife Annabelle. Five great grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon and Rheia Thomasson and Ihiyotl and Elijah Brazeau. The family would like to especially thank Mary Catherine Jalbert for the care, dignity and respect she showed Louis in the past year, her time and loving care allowed him to stay in his beloved home. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, with visitation at AHEARN FUNERAL HOME OF NORTHAMPTON from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am at Elizabeth Ann Seton Chapel, 85 Beacon Street, Florence.
