Lorraine C. (Papillon) Barrows, 96, of Northampton passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Lorraine was born May 19, 1929 to the late Gerald and Alma (Mongeon) Papillon in Northampton MA. She grew up in Northampton and attended local schools. She was one of ten children, many of whom predeceased her, leaving only Janice Bartlett of Easthampton and Eleanor Dupre of Easthampton. Lorraine loved to sew and began when she was only 8 years old after being taught by her Aunt Amanda. She made doll clothes and eventually clothing for her children and grandchildren, whom she loved spending time with. She loved children and ran her own certified day care for several years. Lorraine’s favorite activities included reading, playing puzzles, and spending time on her tablet. Toward the end of her career she worked in various assisted living facilities as a Nurses Aide, retiring finally from RockRidge Retirement Community. She lived for many years at Christopher Heights in Northampton, the residents and staff were a second family to her and she loved her time there. Lorraine enjoyed traveling and would frequently visit Canada with her sister Lillian to visit their ancestral home towns and enjoy Montreal. She will be greatly missed by her son Daniel McCarthy and his spouse Rachel of West Stockbridge, her son Christopher Barrows and his partner Kelly of Bennington, Vermont. She leaves behind 6 grandchildren,13 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband and her three children Edward Jr., Timothy and Debra McCarthy. Burial will Follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Leeds. Donations may be made to the Christopher Heights Activities Department for music appreciation.
