Linda Mae (Thorndike) Walden, 80, of Goshen, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born in Northampton on September 14, 1943, the only daughter of Horace and Maebel (Braman) Thorndike. Linda grew up in Pelham and went through schools at Pelham/Amherst High. After graduating, Linda spent thirty years working in the banking industry; starting as a teller at the age of 16, she worked her way up to assistant vice president of banking. A hard worker, Linda was also often seen at the Whale Inn (Goshen) assisting her husband with the restaurant business. How she ended up in Goshen always amazed her. Linda was a beautiful, eccentric and independent woman. She loved her family passionately and was a devoted caretaker. Linda was amazingly artistic, and she crafted beauty with her fine needle work and paintings. Linda enjoyed gardening, but mostly burning brush and driving that mower around, mowing here or there. A true enjoyment for Linda was golf, especially playing with her husband and taking her grandchildren all over to hit balls; oh, how she smiled to watch. Linda was sadly predeceased by her loving husband Kenneth Walden, as well as her half brother Peter VanSant, and her brother James Thorndike. She is survived by her loving and devoted son Robert and his wife Nichole of Goshen, her grandchildren Kamden, Henry, Calvin, and Bailey, her brother Robert Thorndike and his wife Arlene of Shelburne Falls, her sister-in-law Dolores Thorndike of South Yarmouth, Mass and her good friend, Donald Dextraze of Goshen. Relatives and friends are invited to attend A Graveside service for Linda on Monday, August 12, at 10:00AM at Goshen Center Cemetery, Mollison Hill Road with a reception to follow.
