Karen (Wells) Fournier

May 21, 1939 — April 14, 2023

Karen Wells Fournier 83, of Dunnellon, FL and previously of Plainfield, MA passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband Rodolph (JR) and daughter Nancy.
Karen is survived by her two sons Peter and his wife Lisa, and Gary and his wife Jean, as well as grandsons Benjamin and his wife Megan, and Noah and step granddaughter Kaylee.
Karen graduated from Bridgewater State College and spent thirty years teaching elementary school, first in Cummington, and then in Rowe MA.
Music had always been part of Karen’s life. She took piano lessons from early childhood until high school. Directing four operettas were highlights of her 25 years of teaching in Rowe. Being able to take her 6th grade class to see the Mikado in Ford’s Theater was also a very special time for her.
Upon retiring, Karen collected thousands of pieces of old sheet music for her piano. She also enjoyed her introduction to the Sweet Adelines-learning to blend her baritone sound with three other parts.
Karen was also a sports fanatic, following the Red Sox, and Patriots faithfully.
Later in life, Karen Suffered from aphasia, making it difficult to retrieve words for communication. She was very thankful for the help received from her Dunnellon neighbors.
This obituary was written by Karen. Her closing words were – “Obviously, Karen has written her own obituary, still wanting to be in charge”.
In accordance with Karen’s wishes, there will be no funeral or calling hours.
