EASTHAMPTON-Judith M. (Godin) Ksieniewicz, 79, formerly of Hadley and Sunderland, passed away Saturday at Cooley Dickinson Hospital following a brief illness, her daughters at her side. Judy was born in Northampton, the daughter of the late William and Pauline (Labarge) Godin. She was educated in the local school system and graduated from Northampton High School in 1963. She married her high school sweetheart, John W. “Chick” Ksieniewicz in 1966, and they enjoyed over 40 years together until his death in 2008. Judith worked as an Administrative Assistant in both the Math and Physics departments at UMass for many years before her retirement. Judy and Chick loved to golf and spent many years as members at Hickory Ridge and later Northampton Country Club. They made lifelong friends through golf and even after her husband’s death, Judy continued to enjoy a full social life at NCC with her family and friends. She volunteered for many years with the Hospice Shop in Northampton and was happy for the opportunity to give back to her community, as she had done even when her children were young. Whether as a coach of her daughter’s Lassie League team or as member and later President of the Hadley Mothers Club, Judy was a constant figure for her girls. She never missed a game, regardless of the sport, and tried to carry on that spirit in her later years as she took great pride in attending her grandchildren’s activities, which included swimming, dance, field hockey, and track. Never one to turn down a card game, Judy enjoyed everything from pitch league with her family and friends at NCC to games of scat with her grandchildren around the table at Christmas. Her joy in times such as those will not soon be forgotten. Judy leaves behind her two daughters, Kristin M. Joyce and her husband Thomas of Longmeadow, and Amy B. Orsini and her husband Daniel of Athol, together with her five grandchildren: Sydney and Reagan Joyce, and Kara, Camryn and John Orsini. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert J. Godin of Easthampton, William P. Godin of Stuart, FL and Betsy Godin-Conz and her husband Mark E. Conz of Florence. She is also survived by her sister-in-Law Karen Ksieniewicz whose husband, Charles “Chuck” Ksieniewicz, predeceased her, and her nieces and nephew: Lora, Brian, Jaclyn, Jenna and Hannah. Kristin and Amy would especially like to thank Hannah for the care she provided to Auntie Judy in the last weeks of her life, and for the tremendous amount of love and support from family and friends both near and far since Judy’s passing. Calling hours at AHEARN FUNERAL HOME, 783 Bridge Rd., Northampton, MA are Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass for Judy will be celebrated on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. at Annunciation Church, 87 Beacon St., Florence, MA. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island chapter at wish.org. A private burial service will be held at a later date at the discretion of the family.
