Jennifer Corbin (nee, Warren) died November 30th, 2022, at her sister’s home. She was 64 years old; she gave way to her broken heart. She leaves behind her beloved sister Abigail, her nephew Jacob and his wife Elizabeth and their daughter Emeline, and her brothers Mark and Kenneth.
Jennifer grew up in Virginia, the daughter of an Irish immigrant mother and father from the north country. She leaves on this earth numerous nieces and nephews, scores of cousins, and a group of friends who circled her with love, food, rides, visits, and attention, in this last year: Paula and Karen, Kathy and Sue, Linda and Karen, Laura from work, Fort Street neighbor Libby, and her old friends from Virginia, Kim who spent time with her these last weeks, and Debi, who was always a phone call away.
Jennifer was a devout Irish Catholic and, in that tradition, never attended Mass. She was funny, irreverent, and could not have a conversation without dropping the F-bomb multiple times, another Irish Catholic family tradition.
Jennifer loved the birds. She fed them daily and had a pair of bluebirds that never left her yard. She threw cans, bottles, tennis shoes, and any hard object she could find at the squirrels that came near her many bird feeders. But she left the bears alone. And all the neighbors that turned up their noses at her for feeding the birds…well, as Jen would say, “They can go f*ck themselves.” Jen had a mouth.
She was an artist at heart—a gifted photographer, sometimes watercolors, and always creative with anything she touched. Jen worked taking care of those who could not care for themselves, but she loved her job as a substitute teacher at Smith Vocational the most.
Jennifer went to Cape Cod with her sister for 40 years. She loved the “cape of cod” as she called it and waited each year for our precious time on the water. This last year, with the help of friends, she had her final trip to the Cape.
Nine years ago, her beloved daughter and only child, Sophia, died. Jen never recovered from Sophie’s death. Soph was her life, her heart. Dear sister, I will toss your ashes with Sophie’s on the cape, and now, your soul set free, born into eternity.
And mostly, Jen will be terribly missed by Chester, her dearest dog, who waits for her to come back home.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 19th from 12pm-2pm with a Celebration of Life to begin at 12:30PM at Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Road Northampton.
