FLORENCE-Janet (Jan) Bombard (86) passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023. Jan was born on December 23, 1936 to the late Jocko and Nest (Pugh) Cirillo of Springfield. She was raised in Springfield, attended Springfield schools, and graduated from Commerce High School. During her senior year, friends introduced her to the love of her life Raymond Bombard. They married in 1959. She worked at Mass Mutual in Springfield until they started a family. They relocated their family to Florence where they raised their 3 children and enjoyed 63 happy years together. After raising her children, she went back to work at UMass Amherst. Both Jan and Ray retired from UMass, Amherst and became Snowbirds and spent their winters in Florida. In Florida the fun never stopped with old and new friends. Some of her favorite traveling spots were Aruba and family vacations in Disney World. Jan volunteered at Cooley Dickinson Hospital Coffee Shop and Northampton Senior Center. She enjoyed playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, trips to the casino, taking walks, working in her yard and Bingo. In her younger years she loved to bowl with the Daughters of Isabella. Jan’s biggest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was #1 Nana and will be deeply missed. She is predeceased by her husband Raymond Bombard and sister Joanne Passalacqua of Enfield, Ct. Jan leaves behind her children, William Bombard and his wife Sandy, Susan Clevenger and Thomas Bombard. She also leaves a brother Jack (Larry) Cirillo and his wife Dee of Warwick, MA, four grandsons, Anthony Bombard and his partner Mark Meko, Nicholas Bombard and his wife Beth, Daniel Clevenger and Jack Clevenger. She also leaves 2 great grandchildren, Adam Bombard and Lucy Bombard. THE FAMILY WILL GATHER TO REMEMBER JANET ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2023 AT AHEARN FUNERAL HOME, 783 BRDGE RD., NORTHAMPTON FROM 10:30 TO 11:00 A.M. WITH A FUNERAL HOME SERVICE AT 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Florence. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the local Salvation Army.
