James L. Smith

James “Jim” L. Smith, 88 of Northampton, MA passed away on March 8, 2023, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. He was born on December 31, 1934, in Hatfield, MA to Doris (De Merritt) and Thomas H. Smith, Sr.
After graduating from Smith Academy in Hatfield, Jim went to work in the office of the State Police Barracks in Northampton. He worked there for many years retiring after 50 years of service. Jim was also a Vietnam Veteran.
Jim was a devoted son and brother. He enjoyed going out to eat with friends and being a sports fan, he liked having his friends come to his home to watch various sports with him.
Jim is survived by his sister, Gladys Miller and sister-in-law, Eleanor Smith nieces, Susan Barnard, Terry Cavers (Richard) , Lisa Woods, Kitty Brink (Michael) and nephews, Timothy Entrot (Barbara) and Gary Entrot (Linda) as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, James was predeceased by his brother, Thomas H. Smith, Jr., his sister, Helen Entrot, brother-in-laws Gaylord Entrot and WIlfred Miller as well as his nephew, Thomas Entrot.
Also, the family would like to thank Robert (Bob) Montague for all his help and support with Jim during this difficult time.
