FLORENCE- James W. “Chopper” Pawloski, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born in Northampton on April 12, 1946, the son of the late Stanley and Christine (Soren) Pawloski. Jim was raised in Northampton and attended Northampton schools, graduating from Northampton High School in 1964. After high school, he joined the Army National Guard and served his country honorably for three years. Following his military service, he joined the Northampton Fire Department in 1968. Jim served the city as a firefighter until his retirement in 2000. Jim also worked part-time for the Daily Hampshire Gazette delivering bundles of newspapers to various locations throughout the city for many years. In his free time, Jim enjoyed going to tag sales and estate sales. On Saturday morning, you could often find him at a local tag sale. Jim also enjoyed attending various cruise night events held throughout the area. He was also a member of both regional and national Falcon clubs. Jim was predeceased by his parents and his brother Stanley Pawloski. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Jean (LaBroad) Pawloski, his daughter Deborah Clark and her husband Karl, granddaughter Shelby, and grandson Carson all of Easthampton, his step-sons Donald Culver and family of Westhampton, and Glenn Culver and family of Greenfield, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his nephew Michael Pawloski and family of Hatfield. A CALLING HOUR FOR JIM WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12, FROM 10:00-11:00 A.M. FOLLOWED BY A SERVICE AT 11:00 A.M AT THE AHEARN FUNERAL HOME, 783 BRIDGE RD., NORTHAMPTON. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT SPRING GROVE CEMETERY IN FLORENCE. Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Cooley Dickinson VNA and Hospice, 168 Industrial Dr. Northampton, or to a charity of one’s choice.
