It is with unimaginable heartbreak to announce that Jacob Ryan “Jake” Gordon passed away tragically in an accident August 10, 2026, at the age of 30. He was born on November 23, 1995 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, raised in Whately, and graduated from Frontier Regional High School in 2014. Jake was kind, caring, big-hearted, a “one call away” family member and friend. An amazing attribute he had was not only being the best he could be, but a great friend to many. A true social butterfly, he had a gift for bringing out the best in everyone around him. Jake had a way of making everyone feel comfortable, always listened without judgement, always wanted to help, always gave the best advice. No matter what kind of day you were having, running into Jake had a way of making it better. Jake had the most natural flowing, quick witted, on the spot sense of humor. His humor was one of a kind, completely authentic, unfiltered, and unpredictable. He could make anyone laugh. Jake had a laugh that people will never forget, the kind that filled a room and stayed with you long after. The wildly animated stories he told would have everyone laughing until their stomachs hurt. If you’ve ever had the privilege of hearing any of his stories, you know exactly what we mean. He was the “champion of the high-water mark.”

At the age of 12, he started following in his father’s footsteps learning the trade of landscape and horticulture, eventually becoming a partner in the family business Summit Landscaping, which he was so proud of. He took great pride in every task he took on, always learning from his father, and always giving 125% into everything. He cultivated relationships with many customers that loved him dearly, they looked forward to seeing him coming. He wasn’t just providing a service; he provided genuine friendship. He had recently started his own auto detailing business called Top Tier Auto Detailing, and his work was definitely “top tier!” He was so very proud of everything he was accomplishing.

Jake developed a passion for trucks and boats and learned how to work on and rebuild them with his father. He loved his truck and was always finding ways to make it the coolest Chevrolet on the road. He would sing his heart out in that truck to any song he knew, while leaving a trail of black exhaust smoke behind him. He loved being on the river, he loved fishing, he loved snowboarding, dirt biking, huge bonfires, Orchard Beach, and “punkmin pie.” Most importantly he loved spending time with his dog Chief, family, and friends.

He leaves behind his mother Tracy Fraziero, father Brian Gordon, step-mom Tanya Hanlon, his two sisters Chelsea Gordon and Haley Gordon, step-sister Avarie Hanlon. Grandparents, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as a very large extended family. Coworkers that he considered family. Countless friends that he loved. And lastly, his loyal companion and best friend, Chief.

Jake asked to be remembered for his soul, and that is exactly how he will be remembered – as someone whose warmth, humor, and generosity touched everyone lucky enough to know him.

Anyone who has a Summit shirt or hat, we encourage you to wear it, or anything green in his honor.

Calling Hours will be held Sunday August 16, 2026 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Road Northampton followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 P.M. at the Dow Pavilion in Look Park, 300 North Main Street, Florence.
