CHICOPEE-Helen Anne (Cote) Ahern, 60 of Johnson Rd. passed away unexpectedly on Thursday evening at her home. Helen Anne was born in Northampton on May 4, 1964. She was raised in Northampton, grew up in the city, attending local schools and graduating from Northampton high School in 1982. She furthered her education, graduating from Holyoke Community College. Anne began a long career in the clothing industry, working for several National brands. She worked her way up to District Manager for the New England area. She had lived in the Oxford area for many years before moving to Chicopee in 2015 to be closer to family. Helen Anne, in addition to her busy work schedule, took on the task of caregiver for her brother and mother, spending the last ten years taking care of them and giving them the opportunity to live at home with dignity and comfort. Helen Anne loved spending time with family and friends, especially the Holidays which she especially enjoyed. She reconnected with Lawrence Jones Jr. after returning to Chicopee and they became inseparable. They loved to take day trips together, going to auctions and flea markets. She recently attended her 40th High school reunion, reconnecting with many old friends. Helen Anne was always available to talk, enjoying a cup of coffee chatting with family and friends. Helen Anne was always smiling. She was predeceased by her mother, Gracemary Smith who passed on January 31, 2025, and her brother Shaun Cote who passed in 2015. She leaves the love of her life, Lawrence Jones Jr. with whom she made her home. Her beloved cats Inky and Muffy and Reilly who predeceased her.
Funeral Services jointly celebrating the life of Helen Anne, her mother Gracemary and her brother Shaun Cote will be held on Tuesday, Feb.18, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at AHEARN FUNERAL HOME, 783 Bridge Rd., Northampton.
A Calling hour at the Funeral Home will precede the service from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Interment of Helen Anne, Gracemary and Shaun will follow the services in St. Mary’s cemetery (St. James section) Northampton.
