Leeds, MA- Guy Henry Kirouac, 96, of Evergreen Road, Leeds, MA passed peacefully in his sleep on October 12, 2022, under the compassionate care of the staff at Care-One at Northampton with his loving family by his side.
He was born July 9, 1926, in Albert, France to the late Arthur and Leonora (Ancelle) Kirouac. He was predeceased by all three of his brothers, Real, Rene and Michael Kirouac and by his wife of 70 years, Rachel (Poulin) Kirouac.
Guy was a WWII veteran and French prisoner of War; he was imprisoned at one of the Nazi death camps, Buchenwald as well as several internment camps in France. He joined the US Army at the end of the war. Guy immigrated to the United States in 1948 and settled in the Northampton area. He retired from Kollmorgen Corporation in 1988 after 35 years of service as a machinist and assembler of periscopes. Guy enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating, and playing cards. He especially enjoyed sharing his Vermont camp with friends and family. His greatest love was his wife and family.
Guy is survived by his three children and their spouses: Daniel (Beverly Pomeroy) of Chesterfield, MA, Diane Mongeon (Stephen Mongeon) of Sebring, FL, Denise Linscott (Gregory Linscott, Sr.) of Goshen, MA. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren: Melanie Kirouac, Steven Kirouac, Jenny Livingstone, Hillary Wildman, Timothy Funk, Gregory Linscott, Jr., Robert Linscott, and Mitchell Linscott, his 8 great-grandchildren: Joseph and Paige Krupa, Emily Kirouac, Liam Livingstone, Henry and Molly Wildman, Brice and Grace Linscott, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at the Our Lady of the Hills Parish, 173 Main Street, Haydenville, MA to celebrate the lives of both Guy Kirouac and his wife Rachel Kirouac who died March 2020 and whose funeral could not be attended due to the Covid pandemic. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM on October26, 2022.
