Gary J. Kmetz

NORTHAMPTON- Gary Joseph Kmetz, 61, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 22, 2025. Gary was born in Northampton, the son of the late Lewis and Florence (Rogers) Kmetz. Gary grew up in Florence and graduated from Northampton High school. He was recruited to play college golf at Methodist University in North Carolina. He was a lifelong member of Northampton Country Club and worked at the pro shop when he was a kid, which taught him how to fold a shirt with military precision. Despite being a lifelong golfer and the winner of many tournaments, he always stayed humble.
Gary loved the New York Giants and UMass basketball, traveling with the team to many games in the early 90s. Gary’s career was working in the utility industry. Starting at National Grid and then moving to ISO New England where his job title was so long that it took up most of his business card. Gary is survived by his wife Jennifer, his sister Karen Moran (John), brother-in-law Patrick Leary, sister-in-law Staci Hastey (Paul), sister in law Jill Tellier (Mark), mother and father in law Chris and George Leary, his cousins Marty, Anne and Jackie who he thought of as siblings, his aunt Claire Kmetz and his baby girl Lucy whom he adored. He was pre-deceased by his parents; Lewis Kmetz and Florence (Rogers )Kmetz and his brother Jeffrey Kmetz. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Calling hours for Gary will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at AHEARN FUNERAL HOME, 783 Bridge Rd., Northampton from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. There will be a service of Remembrance for Gary at the Funeral Home at 5:00 P.M. with Fr. Michael Twohig, Celebrant.
