Ellen M. Weinmann

July 16, 1948 — December 12, 2024

Ellen M. Weinmann passed away at Cooley Dickinson hospital in Northampton on Thursday, December 12, 2024. She was the daughter of John D. McKenzie and Elinor McKenzie. Growing up outside of Boston, she was a lover of the arts and a dedicated athlete. After graduating from Weston High School, she continued her education at Bay Path Junior College, and later, as a wife and mother of two children, she completed her bachelor’s degree at Westfield State College. In her career, Ellen served as a special education instructor in Holyoke, the manager of LaSalle Florist in Northampton, and as a Weight Watchers leader in the Hampshire and Franklin County region. To help her son Jonathan, who is on the autism spectrum, she retired and drove him on his newspaper route so that he could continue to deliver the Daily Hampshire Gazette for twelve years. Throughout her life, Ellen dedicated herself to others. She and her beloved husband Charles also took in many shelter dogs over the years. She leaves Charles, Jonathan, and her older son, Christopher, as well as her brothers John D. McKenzie, Jr., and David McKenzie, both of Weston; her brother Bruce McKenzie and his wife Bonnie, of Camden, Maine; her sister Laurie Wisell and her husband Scott Carson, of Port Charlotte, Florida; and her nieces and nephews. Ahearn Funeral Home is entrusted with her cremation and a private ceremony to scatter her ashes near her childhood home in Weston will take place in the spring.
