WILLIAMSBURG-Elizabeth Ann O’Brien-Means, 71, of Briar Hill Rd. passed peacefully on Thursday at the Senior Living Campus at Linda Manor in Leeds. Betsy, as family and friends called her, was born in Cambridge, MA., daughter of the late William J. and Loulie M. (Clements) O’Brien. She furthered her education at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia receiving a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She began a long career as a veterinarian and teacher. At Holyoke Community College she taught in and, for some years, ran the Veterinary Technician program. After over 30 years of teaching, she retired in 2022. She also worked at Brookside Animal Hospital and North King Animal Clinic for many years. She married Peter R. Means, and they resided in Williamsburg for many years. Betsy enjoyed gardening, cooking and especially collecting antiques. Her husband, Peter R. Means predeceased her in 2013. She leaves her devoted sister, Helen O’Brien of Newington, CT. Betsy also leaves many dear friends who she considered as family; Jean Cowhig, Mary McAlister, James McAlister, and Marjorie McAlister-Hynes. FOLLOWED BY A SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE AT THE FUNERAL HOME AT 12:00 P.M. Interment of her ashes will be held privately at a later date.
