Elfriede A. Reyor, 96, of Easthampton passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. She worked for many years at Smith College and enjoyed her work very much. Elfriede had been sent as a young girl by a youth organization on a train from northern Germany to Munich, shortly before the end of WW II. Before reaching Munich the train was stopped due to war chaos. Elfriede and her friend were able to leave the train and travel to Pfaffenhofen near Munich. A family by the name of Mr. and Mrs. Stadler picked her up and took care of her for many years. During this time in Pfaffenhofen she met Jonny Reyor, a GI, based there. Elfriede and Jonny fell in love and they traveled to the United States where they were married. Her connection with her sisters, Hildegard and Ursula, never ended. They were able to go back and forth to visit each other along with their husbands in Germany and Massachusetts. Even after Jonny's death in 1984, these visits never ended. Due to more recent health reasons the visits weren’t able to continue, but they always kept in contact by phone. Hildegard and Ursula deeply regret that their own health conditions will unfortunately make it impossible for them to attend Elfriede’s funeral but they will always remember her as a loving sister and a kind and friendly person. FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND GRAVESIDE SERVICES FOR ELFRIEDE AT ST. MARY’S CEMETERY, (Crucifixion section), NORTHAMPTON ON WEDNESDAY, AUG. 28, 2024 AT 11:00 A.M.
