GOSHEN-Douglas John Gagnon, 61 of Goshen, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, doing what he loved most, logging. Doug was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Elinor (Kellogg) Gagnon of Goshen. At a young age his parents instilled a great work ethic and determination in Doug. He spent much of his younger years working at the Goshen Town farm, tending to the chickens, and riding snowmobiles around with friends and family. He was a graduate of Hampshire Regional High School, class of 1981. After graduation, he started Gagnon Brothers Logging, which he co-owned with his brother Jeff. If you knew Doug, you knew him as a determined, hard-working, and kind man. Anytime you needed something or an extra hand, Doug would be your first call. He was the type of person that doesn’t come around often, the guy that would stop anything he had planned to help others. If you ever needed to know the weather, he would be the person to call, or even if you wanted to know what the weather was on any date in history, he could also tell you that. He was our bookkeeper for the weather of years past. Doug is survived by his siblings, Joseph, Daniel (Juliet) Jeffrey, Cheryl (William miller) and Michelle (Dan Zima), his niece's Heather, Rebecca (Scott), Vanessa (Jay), Annette (Tim), Laila (Justin), Ashley (Cory), and Alexis (Tim) and of course the great nieces and nephews that adored him, Caleb, Aidan, Kiley, Keegan, Althea, Rhett, Eleanora, and Reid. Doug will be truly missed by all. CALLING HOURS WILL BE HELD AT AHEARN FUNERAL HOME, 783 BRIDGE RD., NORTHAMPTON, MA 01060 ON MONDAY MAY 20TH FROM 5:00 TO 7:00 P.M. The family has requested that donations in Doug’s memory be made to the Smith Vocational and Agricultural Forestry dept. c/o SVAHS, c/o Business Office, (forestry/horticulture in the memo), 80 Locust St. Northampton MA 01060
