FLORENCE- Donald C. Upham, 95, of Northampton passed away after a short illness on 02/26/2024 surrounded by family. He passed at the home of his daughter in Texas, where he spent each winter over the last few years. Don was born in Northampton in 1928, a son of Ray Upham and Grace (Munson) Upham in 1928, living his entire life in Florence. He married June Brooks in 1950 (who passed away in 2012) and together they built their home on Ryan Rd. He leaves his son, Robert (Irene) and daughter Joanne Sheardy (Richard), 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Don's brother Ray predeceased him in 1974. Don was an avid sportsman, always enjoying the great outdoors. He enjoyed collecting antiques and was active in the antique gasoline engine hobby for over 50 years, making many good friends far and wide. Don retired from Smith College Buildings and Grounds Dept. in 1990, where he had been employed for many years. He was a lifetime member of Florence Congregational Church. At Don’s request there will be no calling hours. RELATIVES AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND A GRAVESIDE SERVICE ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13, 2024 AT 11:00 A.M. IN SPRING GROVE CEMETERY, 300 N. MAPLE STREET, FLORENCE. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the charity of your choice.
