Donald Orrell

SHUTESBURY - It is with heavy hearts, that our family announces the peaceful passing of Donald William Orrell, 64, on Thursday, August 10, 2023. Donny was born on September 13, 1958, in Northampton, Massachusetts. He was the beloved son of Barbara (Akers) and the late Donald C. Orrell. Donny graduated from Amherst Regional High School in 1976. He began his career with Stop & Shop, working for over 47 years in the produce department. Donny served his community as a volunteer with the Pelham Fire Department, advancing to the rank of Deputy Chief until his retirement. On September 12, 1992, he married Paula Corbeil. Together they spent 30 years making memories in their home in Shutesbury, Massachusetts.
Donny enjoyed NASCAR, collecting beer steins, and country music. Both he and his best friend Peter, were model train enthusiasts and often looked forward to attending shows together. Donny and his wife Paula, also loved to travel, highlighted by their 25th anniversary trip to London. They both loved exploring the East and West coasts, especially when accompanied by their good friends, Rich and Melissa.
In addition to his mother and beloved wife, Donny is survived by his brother Gary, and wife Elizabeth, along with their two children. He will be greatly missed by Paula’s mother, Yvonne Corbeil and her two sisters, Suzanne and husband, Dave Waskiewicz, and Joanne, and her husband, Scott Harper and their children.
In lieu of donations and flowers, Donny’s family asks that you “pay it forward” with an act of kindness in his memory.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, September 13th, 2023 from 3 - 4:30 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 4:30 p.m. at Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Road, Northampton, Massachusetts.
