NORTHAMPTON-Claudia M. O’Brien, 71, of
Northampton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023, under the care of the Fisher Home of Amherst. Claudia was born in Wakefield, Massachusetts on January 19, 1952, to Walter and Rose (Alfonso) Zell. She attended schools in the Wakefield area, and furthering her education she received her Master’s degree in Education. Claudia worked in marketing at Westfield State University for over 28 years before retiring. In her free time, she enjoyed art, reading, and music. Claudia had a radiant smile, great sense of humor and a very contagious laugh. Claudia is survived by her husband George Heake Jr., her daughter Olivia O’Brien of Northampton, MA, her sister Carla LeCompte of Northampton and nephew, Calvin LeCompte from New York city.
Claudia is also survived by her loving dogs Emme and Rosie.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Saturday, October 14 from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Rd., Northampton. At Claudia’s request she will be cremated, and interment will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to:
