Charlotte Ann (Hagy) White, 93, of Amherst, MA, passed peacefully from this earth on July 18, 2025.
Char grew up in Chester, PA, where she was a champion jitter-bugger. She first met her husband, Harold A. White Jr., at summer camp, and they were reunited at Wheaton College in Illinois. Hal and Char celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in August of 2024 (just four months before Hal’s passing in January 2025).
Char was a librarian at Wellesley College, as well as an enthusiastic member of Wellesley Friends Meeting (then later Monadnock Meeting and Mount Toby Meeting). Together, Hal and Char created a joyful life in New England with the Quaker community, and with their three children: Matt, Connie, and Paula (who were envied by their friends for having the nicest parents in town).
Char was treasured for her twinkling smile, generous spirit, and warm companionship -- qualities which were especially cherished by her husband, Hal, who acted as her primary caregiver for the last years of their life together.
Char is survived by her two daughters Connie (husband Greg), and Paula, also her four grandchildren: Thaddeus, Everett, Lucas (wife Charlotte), and Dana (wife Hao). She was preceded in death by her son Matt (wife Elizabeth) and her husband of 70 years, Hal.
