A. Geoffrey (Geoff) Kenseth, aged 78, of Cummington, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2024, in his residence. Geoff grew up on the commons of South Amherst, MA, the son of Rev. Arnold Kenseth of South Congregational Church and Betty Amey Kenseth. He received his B.A. from UMass Amherst and his M.A. from University of Chicago.
Geoff lived life on his own terms. He was uncompromising in his choices and resolute in his decisions. He loved the Icelandic Sagas and chose to live out his own with his homestead of Kjensettstead, immersed in the spirit of nature. Geoff chose to be the master of his own time as the Chimney Swift of Amherst, which he operated for more than 40 years. He loved his pets and was predeceased by his beloved Norwegian Elkhound, Kara, his Australian Shepherds, Snowy & Shoe, and his tabby cat, Fiona. He loved poetry, and he always had a passage or a verse for each and every occasion. The above was dwarfed only by his prodigious coffee consumption.
He is survived by his one and only child Dylan, Dylan’s mother, Michele Mastroianni Crochiere, his siblings, Elaine Kenseth-Abel and Evan Kenseth, their children and grandchildren, his Australian Shepherd, Chance, and numerous family and friends who will forever cherish his loving memory. Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Geoff's memory to the Midwest Australian Shepherd Rescue Inc. or Meow Parlour, two organizations close to his and the family’s heart.
